FAST LANE Program


TransponderWelcome to FAST LANE, the Turnpike Authority's Electronic Toll Collection Program. FAST LANE is operational on the entire Massachusetts Turnpike including the Sumner and Ted Williams Tunnels, and on the Tobin Memorial Bridge. FAST LANE is also operational anywhere E-ZPass is accepted which means that customers can use their free FAST LANE transponders to pay tolls anywhere E-ZPass is in use.

FAST LANE provides customers with electronic toll collection through the use of a free transponder (tag). A transponder is a small electronic device that attaches to the inside of your windshield. As you pass through a designated FAST LANE, a green "Thank You" light will flash to verify your transaction is being approved and recorded to your FAST LANE account.

FAST LANE Applications
There are several ways individuals can become members of the FAST LANE program and receive a free transponder:
*Request an application in the mail by calling FAST LANE
*Join the FAST LANE program online
*Download the application and mail or fax it to FAST LANE
*Visit one of our FAST LANE Service Centers
*Fill out an application using credit card payment at select RMV offices and retail locations

Toll Payment Options
Several toll payment options are available. The most popular pre-payment option is to assign a FAST LANE account to a credit card which is then charged $20 to open the account. Tolls are automatically deducted from that $20. When the account falls below a balance of $10, the credit card is automatically charged to bring the account balance back to $20. Another payment option is to have tolls automatically deducted from a checking account which can be done with any bank.

Program Benefits
Patrons with Individual accounts receive a 25 cent toll discount at the Allston-Brighton tolls and a 50 cent discount at the Sumner and Ted Williams tunnels. The Massachusetts Port Authority also offers a 50 cent FAST LANE discount on the Tobin Bridge to these members. FAST LANE Special Program members receive discounts based on their specific program.  In addition, FAST LANE program members may qualify to receive the Massachusetts Personal Income Tax Commuter Deduction.

Monthly Statements 
Customers have several options for receiving transaction information showing tolls paid and account activity.  These options are available on-line by logging into the FAST LANE Account Manager or by contacting Customer Service.

On-line Statements
You can check your account on-line anytime by logging into the FAST LANE Account Manager using your Account Number and PIN.  You can view, print, and save your FAST LANE account transaction history, up to your previous day's activity.

Monthly E-mail Statement Notification
This option will send you a link to your FAST LANE Statement each month via e-mail.  You will click on the link provided and log in to view your previous month's statement.

Monthly Paper Statement
You can receive your current monthly paper statement via mail.  Your FAST LANE account will be charged $2 per month for this service.  (The fee will be $5 per month for commercial FAST LANE accounts.)     

Statements for specific dates are also available upon request, retroactive for 6 months.

Access Your FAST LANE Account
Customers may access information about a FAST LANE account online or via an interactive voice response system 24-hours a day, 7 days a week by calling FAST LANE. Customers must have their account number and personal PIN number in order to use both these services.

Commercial Accounts
Owners and users of vehicles with livery, taxi and other commercial plates or vehicles with more than 4 tires must join the FAST LANE commercial program. Call the FAST LANE Service Center and press option 7 to speak with one of our commercial specialists to find out details about:

  • How to open a commercial account
  • Post paid monthly invoice option
  • Mileage statements
  • Toll schedules

Gift Certificates
FAST LANE gift certificates are a popular item at holiday gift-giving time as well as for birthdays, graduation and students going off to college. Gift certificates are available at any Service Center or by calling FAST LANE.  FAST LANE gift certificates are available in two denominations, $30.00 or $50.00 and can be used to open a new FAST LANE account or apply to an existing account balance.

Those receiving the gift certificate may bring it to a FAST LANE service center and complete the application to open an account, or, the recipient may send the gift certificate along with a completed application to one of our FAST LANE service centers.

Employee On-Site Sign-Up Initiative
The FAST LANE program is working with companies located along the Massachusetts Turnpike to highlight the benefits of the FAST LANE electronic toll program and to offer a unique opportunity to benefit employees; the on-site FAST LANE sign-up initiative. 

FAST LANE staff members, working with employee benefits representatives, will travel to your company to register your employees into the FAST LANE program.  Everyone who joins the program at this session would immediately receive their transponder and could begin to enjoy the program's benefits.
