 Storrow Drive On-Ramp to I-93 South
Early Morning Ramp Closure

The Storrow Drive on-ramp to I-93 South will be closed early morning (Wednesday night) Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 12:30 AM to 5 AM.

Motorists destined for I-93 South should follow posted detour signs via Martha Road and Merrimac Street to the I-93 South on-ramp at New Chardon Street.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

 Haymarket On-ramp to I-93 South and Callahan Tunnel
Nighttime Ramp Closures

The Haymarket on-ramp to I-93 South and the Callahan Tunnel will be closed at night Monday, June 29, 2009 from 11:30 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for I-93 South, Route 1A, East Boston, and Logan Airport should follow posted detour signs towards Leverett Circle. At Leverett Circle motorists should access I- 93 South. Those destined for Route 1A, East Boston, and Logan Airport should take Exit 24 off I-93 South.

This closure is to allow for maintenance.

 I-93 South Exits 24 A and B to Government Center and Callahan Tunnel
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The exit ramp from I-93 South to Government Center and the Callahan Tunnel (Exit 24 A and Exit 24 B) will be closed early morning (Wednesday night) Thursday, July 2,2009 from 12:30 AM to 5:00 AM the following morning .

Motorists will be detoured to the left lane of Exit 23, Purchase Street. From there drivers trying to access Government Center should follow the posted detour via Atlantic Avenue while drivers heading to East Boston and Logan Airport will be detoured to the Ted Williams Tunnel via Seaport Boulevard.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

 I-93 South Exit 23, Purchase Street
Nighttime Ramp Closure

I-93 South Exit 23 to Purchase Street will be closed at night Monday, June 29, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the following morning.

Drivers should stay on I-93 South and reverse direction at Exit 18 (Mass Ave Exit). Stay in the left lane of Exit 18 and turn left onto the South Boston Bypass Road. Drivers should then turn left again onto Frontage Road northbound and follow signs for South Station.

This closure is for maintenance work.

 I-93 North through Downtown and Charlestown
Nighttime Multi-lane Closure

Two to three lanes of I-93 North from South Bay through Downtown and Charlestown will be closed Sunday, June 28, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 10:30 PM (11:30 PM Thursday and Friday) to 5:00 AM the following morning.

These lane closures are to allow for maintenance.

 Underpass from Storrow Drive Eastbound to I-93 North and Tobin Bridge
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The underpass from Storrow Drive Eastbound to I-93 North and Tobin Bridge will be closed at night Monday, June 29, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.

Drivers will be detoured over the Gilmore Bridge via O'Brien Highway. Once at Rutherford Avenue drivers for 93 NB will turn left to access the 93 North on ramp in Assembly Square while drivers destined for the Tobin Bridge will turn right and head south on Rutherford Avenue to the Route 1 North on ramp.

This closure is to allow for maintenance.

 I-93 North Exit #26 to Storrow Drive
Nighttime Ramp Closure

I-93 North Exit #26 to Storrow Drive will be closed and detoured at night Monday, June 29, 2009 and Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for Storrow Drive will be detoured to Exit 28 (Sullivan Square) and should follow the posted detour via Rutherford Avenue and Gilmore Bridge to Leverett Circle.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

 Sumner Tunnel On-ramp to I-93 North
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The Sumner Tunnel on-ramp to I-93 North will be closed at night Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM the next morning.

Drivers destined for I-93 North should follow the posted detour signs via North Washington Street and Rutherford Avenue, or via the Storrow Drive ramp, keep left toward Route 28/ Cambridge, then bear right, and then follow the signs to I-93.

This closure is to allow for maintenance.

I-93 North Exit #23 to Government Center will be closed and detoured at night Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 11:30 AM to 5:00 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for Government Center will be detoured to Exit 26 (Storrow Drive) and should follow the posted detour via Nashua Street, Martha Road and Merrimac Street to Government Center.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

 I-90 East HOV Tunnel to Logan Airport
Nighttime Closure

The I-90 East high occupancy vehicle (HOV) tunnel to Logan Airport will be closed at night Monday, June 29, 2009 and Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 10:00 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

HOVs traveling on I-93 North should take Exit 20 to I-90 East/Logan Airport. HOVs destined for I-90 East from Downtown Boston or I-93 South should follow the signage to I-90 East from Albany.

This closure is for permit work.

 Free Coffee for Safe Driving
July 4th Night

Compliments of McDonalds and Gulf, free coffee will be served to keep motorists alert and safe at the 11 service plazas along the Turnpike on July 4th night into Sunday morning, from 10 pm to 5 am.

 FAST LANE: Sign Up For Free Transponders
Framingham, Westborough and Charlton Service Plazas

The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority is hosting sign-up events at the Framingham, Westborough and Charlton Service Plazas along the MassPike (I-90) before Fourth of July travel for motorists to receive free transponders for the FAST LANE automated toll service that will be ready for use the following day.

There will be a sign-up at the Framingham Service Plaza located in Framingham on the MassPike westbound (I-90) on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A second sign-up will he held at the Westborough Service Plaza located on the MassPike westbound (I-90 W) on July 1, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Both eastbound and westbound Charlton Service Plazas will host sign-ups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009.

Since the MassPike's free transponder program began in mid-February, 131,935 transponders have been distributed. The transponder cost motorists $25.95 before the free program began earlier this year.

  I-90 (MassPike) East and West Maintenance and Inspections
Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures

For the next several months maintenance crews will be doing repair work on sections of I-90 (MassPike) East and West from the I-90/I-93 Interchange in Boston to the New York State line during the day from 7 AM/ 9 AM (depending on location) to 3 PM weekdays or at night.

Construction work zones will require lane closures to do the highway repair work. Much of the work needs to be completed in dry weather. See details on the construction advisory page on the MassPike website: http://www.masspike.com/travel/construction.html

 Paving between exits 4 and 5 in Westfield and West Springfield
Lane Closures

A pavement resurfacing project is under construction between exits 4 and 5, from Mile 38 to 49 in Westfield and West Springfield on the eastbound side of the MassPike. Single lane closures will be required Sunday between 8:00pm and 6:00am and Monday through Wednesday between 6:00pm and 6:00am.

Nighttime Lane Closures

A paving project will be underway on I-90 (MassPike) East and West between Exits 11 and 12 in Hopkinton and Westborough.

Lane closures will be required Monday, June 29, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 eastbound and westbound from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Daytime Lane Closures

Lanes will be closed on I-90 (MassPike) East and West near Boston University during the day Monday, June 29, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1 2009 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

This allows crews to do repair work and maintenance work.

Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures

Lanes will be closed on I-90 (MassPike) East and West near the Prudential Tunnel to Exit 24 during the day Monday, June 29, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 10 AM to 2 PM and at night Sunday, June 28, 2009 through Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 9:00 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

This allows crews to do repair work and maintenance work.

 Sumner Tunnel on-ramp to Storrow Drive
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The Sumner Tunnel on-ramp to Storrow Drive will be closed and detoured at night Monday, June 29, 2009 and Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM the next morning. Sumner Tunnel access to Haymarket will remain open.

Sumner Tunnel drivers headed to Storrow Drive should follow posted detour signs via New Chardon, Merrimac and Nashua Streets.

This closure is for inspection work.
