East Boston Parks

The Central Artery/Tunnel Project will create over 50 acres of new landscape in East Boston, including new and refurbished parks, plazas, walkways and highway plantings.  Bremen Street Park (view park plan) alone provides 20 acres of new recreational space for residents and includes the rehabilitation of the historic Boston & Albany Engine House into the East Boston YMCA.  The conversion of the former Park 'n Fly parking lot into a park is also an opportunity to add a critical link to the East Boston Greenway.  Expanding the East Boston Memorial Stadium Park into areas formerly covered by highway viaducts will create a direct connection to the surrounding neighborhood and provide an additional five acres of recreational space for the community.
